Our story
The Fattoria di Presciano began as the life project of Umberto Perrotta, born in 1892, who started working at a very young age in his family’s timber business — an experience that would lead him to government roles and international relationships.
Gifted with great intelligence and determination, after the Second World War he took an active part in rebuilding the country: he developed railway projects with three concessions in Italy, ran a major cement company and invested in transport and energy, going as far as building, in 1950, the first hybrid diesel/electric bus with rubber and steel wheels.
Travelling across an Italy that was rising again after the war, he fell in love with the countryside of Pieve a Presciano, where he gradually bought land, built his Tuscan home and started a business as a farmer and winegrower.
In those years his energy and spirit of initiative made the estate one of the centres of the local economy, and even today, more than forty years after his death, the memory of Commendatore Perrotta is still alive in the area.
In 2012, after some years under other management, the property returned to the founder’s family: brothers Umberto and Pellegrino Perrotta, together with their cousin Raffaele Tibaldi, took back its management with a clear goal — to relaunch it in the footsteps of the family’s history. At the heart of this project: a range of wines to renew the estate’s past glories.
Welcome back to the Perrotta home!
